Membership Opportunity: Contribute to the Santiago Network on Climate Loss and Damage

The Santiago Network is a collaborative platform designed to address loss and damage associated with climate change. It facilitates the exchange of expertise and resources among organizations, networks, and experts to support countries in responding to the impacts of climate change. By fostering connections and sharing knowledge, the Santiago Network aims to enhance global efforts to manage and mitigate loss and damage.

What Membership Means: Members of the Santiago Network will:

  • Respond to technical assistance requests from countries.
  • Benefit from network expertise and experience.
  • Showcase services related to loss and damage.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with other members.
  • Participate in networking opportunities with other members to facilitate collaboration, including opportunities for funding to respond to loss and damage.
  • Contribute to and benefit from work being done in the area of loss and damage, particularly through the Santiago network’s alignment with the work of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism and the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage.

Who Can Become a Member:

  • Organizations: Independent legal entities.
  • Bodies: Groups not necessarily with independent legal status.
  • Networks: Interconnected groups of organizations or individuals that collaborate, share resources, or coordinate activities to achieve common goals. These networks can vary in structure, purpose, and scope but do not necessarily have legally established arrangements such as consortiums.
  • Experts: Individuals who are recognized specialists in a specific field.

Eligibility Criteria: To become a member, organizations, bodies, networks, and experts must:

  • Demonstrate proven expertise in topics relevant to averting, minimizing, and addressing loss and damage associated with climate change.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical assistance related to loss and damage associated with climate change.
  • Commit to:
    • Considering the cross-cutting issues mentioned in the eleventh preambular paragraph of the Paris Agreement in their work.
    • Adhering to the conflict of interest guidelines of the Santiago Network.
    • Following appropriate environmental and social safeguards.

Membership Process:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest: Use the standard form available online and as a downloadable pdf.
  2. Complete the Form: Include all required and optional documents.
  3. Review and Submit: Ensure eligibility, provide necessary information, and email the completed form and documents to members@santiago-network.org.

    • Proven expertise (topics and activities)
    • Proven experience
    • Statement of motivation and value addition for joining the Santiago network (300 words) – optional
  3. Compile the relevant supporting documents:
  4. Compile communications and visibility material – optional supplementary information:
    • Logo (hi-res png file)
    • Biographical note (75-100 words)
  5. Complete the expression of interest form:
    • Fill out all required sections of the form
    • Attach all supporting documents
    • Submit the form
